“Currently we have been asked to identify a Medical Director of Clinical Development. The basic stipend is in the 200K+ vicinity with potential for bonus and other executive benefits depending upon credentials and former track record. The ‘sizzle’ of this opportunity is that we need a Physician, M.D. or D.O. who has the entrepreneurial spirit to lead as Medical Director, a clinical development team of a ‘start-up’ Company that is backed by a major Pharma Company. He/She would participate in the design and implementation of phase I – III clinical trials, ensuring that the overall scientific and medical content of medical programs are sound. The successful referral would support product development and research programs with respect to safety and risk management issues. The successful Physician would provide medical support to the Director of Drug Safety for all medical safety activities and provide medical and safety assessments following review and analysis of Serious Adverse Events, Adverse event and Laboratory reports and specified Safety Inquires and Investigations. He/She would assist in preparation and review of FDA Med Watch Forms, Periodic Safety Update Reports, and other Regulatory Reports. The referral would work closely with CROs and in-house Clinical Development and Regulatory Affairs staff to provide medical leadership and scientific guidance on a eye to eye and in team meetings. Consequently he/she must have superb interpersonal skills to develop and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external customers in order to lead company’s interests from a medical perspective. Our Client, insists that the referral remain current with clinical and drug development information relevant to assigned programs through the review of literature, attendance at medical/scientific meetings, etc.

 

Essentially our Client requires that the referral have qualified training as a Physician MD/DO with a US License and be American Board Certified/eligible in Medicine with some relevant medical specialty training or experience in infectious diseases or other disease management sub-specialty. The referral must be familiar with clinical trial design and management. Additionally, our Client requires at least 3 years of relevant pharmaceutical development experience including strong knowledge of all phases of drug development to have the ability to contribute to clinical strategy and build Key Opinion Leader consensus. The successful Candidate must have strong knowledge of GCPs, US regulatory reporting requirements for product safety, and medical aspects of regulatory filings. His/Her interpersonal skills must include expertise in writing and editing reports of scientific research, both for regulatory submission and for scientific publication. He/She must have a successful track record of working in a fast-paced team oriented environment. He/She must have an excellent command of English to be able to make presentations to senior management and at symposia. There is 20% requirement for domestic and international travel. The position is within excellent intellectual and cultural communities and the schools are excellent.”
